  • Meghan Childs

March 2012

Congratulations to Meghan Childs for receiving this year’s $500 Scholarship from Catholic Daughters of America! Meghan had an outstanding application, and was praised as the epitome of the type of Catholic youth that are sought out for this award, possessing qualities that will go on to make a difference in the future. Thank you for representing our school in such an honorable manner.

Thank you our Class of 2012 who recently delivered 75 “goodie bags”, and over 150 sandwiches to the Homeless at  Brother Francis Shelter. We are very proud of our students, and the example they are setting in our community.

  • Francisco Romero, class of 2011, received an award for earning  the Highest GPA in the Early Honors Program at Alaska Pacific University. Congratulations for completing this program so well!

March 9, 2011

Ted’s letter to Kurt Vonnegut was selected as Alaska’s Honorable Mention for Level III in the Letters About Literature contest.  Only three finalists are selected from the 200+ entries (First Place, Runner-Up, and Honorable Mention), and Ted’s  was one of them.

“How has an author’s work-novel, nonfiction, poetry–changed your view of the world or yourself? What did you learn about yourself that you didn’t realize before reading the author’s work?” These are the questions that Ted answered in his letter to Kurt Vonnegut, Ted’s favorite author. His letter was fresh, provocative, and presumptuous, making the readers hold their breath. In the end, they smile because they realize that his letter was  only a stylistic trap that cleverly aimed to express an unequivocal admiration for his favorite author.

Congratulations, Ted!

A group of Lumen Christi High School students became the first in the nation to participate in a new type of biology lab that involves cloning.

(This is a KTUU video clip)

This event was organized by Rep Chris Tuck.  He invited Commissioner of Education Les Morse, Anchorage School District administrators and school board members, ADN, Channel 2 and 11 reporters.  Our Superintendent Sister Ann and school board president, Deacon Mick Fornelli, were also present.

Students were engaged during the procedure and answered the reporters’ questions knowledgeably and professionally.  Mrs. Brewer had prepared them well; our students responded calmly, and did a fabulous job.
